Technical Information
The TailGauge Vehicle Backup Sensor System is a high-tech system designed to assist drivers while they are backing up their vehicle.
Large objects (6' wide and wider) will usually be detected starting at about 14'-16'. Objects 2' wide will usually be detected starting at about 10'-12'. Objects 4"-8" wide will usually be detected starting at about 5 - 6'. Objects 2" wide will usually be detected about 3 - 5' on
inward. Objects narrower than 2" might not be detected beyond 4'. In other words, a telephone pole or fire hydrant will likely be detected about 5 - 6' out. A metal sign post will likely be detected from about 4' out inward. A child should be detected at about 5 - 8' or closer. These are estimates but
tend to be correct.
TailGauge comes in three models.
The Model V, and Model V-SA are BOTH visual and audio. The Model A and Model A-F are audio ONLY:
Our model A uses a speaker to inform you of distance in feet.
Models V & V-SA have a digital display with an AUDIO WARNING that can be mounted under your rear view mirror. (The audio warning beeps with increasing frequency the closer you get to an obstacle).
Our Models V & V-SA are unique because of their digital display feature, allowing accuracy within 1 1/2 inches of an object.

Display not shown actual size.
The display unit is 7 1/2" wide X 7/8" high X 1/2" deep with a 25 long cable, making it about the same width as your rear view mirror. The bracket included in the kit allows you to mount the display unit in a professional looking manner, either above or below the rear
view mirror, or directly onto the windshield using 3M high quality double sided tape provided. Regardless of mounting position, display can be fully adjusted to aim it where you want it.
The back of this display unit is flat, allowing you to mount it directly to the glass or to your dashboard in the event you decide not to use the included bracket.

Model A has a small (2 inch wide) speaker, with a 11.2 foot cable, that uses a female voice to tell you the distance from an obstacle. The speaker can be mounted in any convenient location near the driver, either hidden or visible.

INSTALLATION:
All TailGauge backup sensor systems are very easy to install. We have experimented by giving units to untrained persons to act as "guinea pig" tests. On all installations we have tested this way, on the average car, these untrained persons installed the kits in about two
hours.
We are currently in the process of developing a select group of distributor/installers throughout the US. For the time being, if you do not wish to do the install yourself, we recommend bringing the kit to your automotive service mechanic familiar with your vehicle. They
should have no problem understanding exactly what to do.
To make things even easier, by going to

will find downloadable instruction information that you can give to the installer in advance of receipt of the kit.
