THE ADVANTAGE OF THREE SENSORS
TailGauge has carefully researched the accuracy and reliability of our
backup warning devices. We have found that three sensors are ideal for
accurate coverage. The use of fewer sensors is not adequate for complete
coverage of the rear of the average vehicle. For this reason, all our
systems include at least three sensors.

The speaker connects
to the power unit using an 11 foot long cable with a 1/8" mono audio plug.
MINIATURE ACOUSTIC TRANSMITTER/RECEIVER
(TailGauge Comes with THREE sensors)
Sensor dimensions: 3 1/4" wide X 3/4" high X 3/8" deep with 6-foot long cables.
The TailGauge Ultrasonic Backup Warning System’s miniature
acoustic sensors transmit a uniquely modified "narrow beam" signal.
This signal
is capable of seeing through fog, rain and snow, day or night. Each sensor
reads or "sees" directly outward, to the left and the right at a 35degree
angle to each sensor and up and down at a 20 degree angle.
When this signal strikes a solid target in the path
of your vehicle, it bounces back to the antenna/receiver and is instantly
sent to the signal microprocessor.
This
8-bit microprocessor, programmed with ‘Intelligent Control Software’
incorporating ‘fuzzy logic’, processes the target signal to calculate
distance and closing speed between the host vehicle and the obstacles in its
path. The processor continuously computes this information. If the processor
determines that the conditions require the driver to take corrective action,
it will alert the driver. By using this technology with three (3) rear
sensors, TailGauge gives you the complete and accurate coverage that
neither two sensors alone nor the Doppler technology (used by other
products) can.
For wider vehicles a model with a fourth sensor is available via special order.
Call us during business hours at 301- 441- 4513 for details.

8-BIT SIGNAL MICRO PROCESSOR

A Special Note For Pickup Truck Owners
Because its design is ideal for open bed trucks, TailGauge is popular with
pickup truck drivers. Installation is simple. You may either install the
processor directly behind the rear bumper (in a sealed bag to protect it
from the elements), or mount it in the rear left taillight assembly. Either
way is easy and effective.
